Oh the Places They'll Go...

 Congratulations Class of 2017!

Service with a few smiles!
LVHS high school students, Anthony Prestage and Randy Kneblick, helped elementary school students Riley C., Patric R., and Gabby A., build a raised garden bed. The older students helped teach basic construction, planting and safe practices when working with tools. Sun Hardware helped fund the project by donating? plants, wood and gardening soil. Now to wait until the first harvest!

Gold Seal!
Take a moment to congratulate Ila Dannelley on her accomplishments at the recent state art competition. Both of her pieces of artwork received both a perfect score and medal at the state level. In addition, one of her pieces received the highest honor at the state level of a Gold Seal! That is the equivalent of winning first place in the state. She did this not only competing against 3A competition, but every level, 1A through 6A. Out of approximately 32,000 statewide entries she was 1 of only 150 selected!

District 25-3A Golf
April 10-11, 2017

The Lady Vikings golf team had a rough start on day one but fought back on day two to post an outstanding second round team score. Team members included: Hannah Long (Soph.), Elizabeth Talley (Soph.), Mikayla Adams (Soph.), Linzi Standiford (Sr.), and Phiala Drake (Soph.). Team member Maryl Day (Jr.) was unable to compete in the District Golf Tournament due to an injury.

Other varsity team individuals participating in the District tournament were Jae Morquecho (Sr.) and Lyla Vaughn (Fr.). Representing the Lady Vikings in the JV Division were: Brooke Erickson (Jr.), Morgan Walker (Soph.), Morgan Kirk (Soph.), and Savanna Sleeper (Fr.).

Advancing to the Region IV-AAA Golf Tournament will be Jae Morquecho (3rd Place District Medalist) and Elizabeth Talley (4th Place District Medalist). Congratulations to all of these young ladies on a successful season. Best of luck to Jae Morquecho and Elizabeth Talley at the Regional Golf Tournament on April 24-25. Thank you for your support of the Lago Vista High School Girls Golf Program.

The LVHS Boy's golf team participated in the District 25AAA Golf Tournament. The two-day tournament was held at Ladybird Johnson Municipal Golf Course, in Fredericksburg, TX, and Scott Schreiner Golf Course, in Kerrville, TX, respectively. Other teams competing in the tournament were Blanco, Comfort, Gateway, Ingram, and Johnson City.

After a long road traveled (no pun intended) to get to the district tournament, our varsity boys finished the tournament in 3rd place, with a two-day score of 757, behind Comfort (754), and Blanco (703). Our JV boys finished the tournament in 1st place, with a two-day score of 885. Top ten finishers from our varsity team include Brandon Kendrick, in 7th place, with a two-day score of 173, and Chris Lofton, in 10th place, with a two-day score of 188.

Unfortunately, only the top two teams from each district advance to the regional tournament, so this tournament concludes our run for the state tournament. It has been a fun and eventful year, filled with many memories and positive outlooks for next year's team. We are very proud of these young men and for what they have accomplished.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported our athletes in this year's season. We would like to thank the players for their hard work and for their dedication to the game of golf, and the parents for their support and for their active participation. We would like to thank the LVHS administration for their support and for allowing us to participate in our season tournaments, and the LVHS staff for working with our students in order to make sure that our athletes' academic readiness was not compromised. We would also like to thank the City of Lago Vista for allowing us to use their facilities and for supporting our athletes during the season. Thank you, Coach Hansen for working alongside our boys and for taking over when our boy's coach was attending other school functions. Thank you, Coach Walker, Coach Fowler, Coach Mac, and Justin Walker for being our district golf monitors for the tournament. Thank you, Lago Vista community, for supporting our golf program, on and off the course. If we left anyone out, it was unintentional. We appreciate the support of everyone in our Lago Vista community! GO VIKINGS!!!

OAP Advances to Regionals
April 1, 2017

So, incredibly proud of the LVHS OAP Company! We had some major hurdles/adversity to overcome
and they did it with professionalism, grace, and bravery! Huge shout out to our Crew - led by Jade Simms - for being on their toes, communicating with each other, and making the decision to shut down the show early so we wouldn't be disqualified for exceeding 40 minutes! Because of her decision making, leadership, and courage, we did not go over time! She was awarded outstanding Technician for our school, and the entire crew was honored with the Best Overall Crew award at contest. And because of the amazing performance and work from the entire team, we were still able to advance with an incomplete show! I'd always heard that was a "thing", and we are now proof! In addition to our crew awards, Hailey Cagle was awarded Honorable Mention Cast, Emma Peer was awarded All Star Cast, and Ali DiGann was honored as the Overall Best Actress! Please congratulate these kids when you see them - and send us good vibes as we prepare to compete at Regionals in San Antonio.

They will perform at MacArthur High School at approximately 5pm on Thursday, April 6, 2017.

At One Act Play contest, these kids are left on their own to make decisions. As directors, we leave them on the stage for the duration of their performance, and no matter what happens, they are left to figure it out. There are no time outs, no advice from coaches or adults, no overtimes, no breaks to re-group and come back for the second half. They are on their own. Which makes this advancement the sweetest victory. These kids are AWESOME and we are beyond proud of their accomplishments this past weekend.
